Rafting is one of the most -if not the most- popular tourist attraction in Tena. So while in Tena, make sure to go rafting with the best. The Jatunyacu (Class III+)

The most rafted river in the Tena area, the Jatunyacu offers lots of fun for paddlers of all experience levels. A great river for families and those who have never rafted before.

The Jondachi/Hollin (Class III – IV)

This trip on two rivers through the jungle with cascading waterfalls from both sides is one of the funnest ways to enjoy some amazing rainforest scenery. The trip begins with a 30 minute hike down to the river and an opportunity for a swim in a cool canyon.

The Misahualli (Class IV+)

A canyon fed by six different rivers. Big water. A massive waterfall in the middle. Better for rafters with some previous experience. Available September through February.

Jungle Trips

For those who would rather not go rafting or who would like to see jungle flora up close, River People also offer jungle trips. See waterfalls and canyons in the area on a day trip or on overnight trips.

Included in Your Trip

All trips include certified guides and a safety kayaker. Also all equipment, transport and a buffet lunch (complete with chocolate cake!).

Multi-day trips include all camping gear and two safety kayakers.

Note: Trips may be cancelled due to river conditions. Safety is River People’s priority. In the case of a cancellation, arrangements will be made to raft a different river or to give customers a 90% refund.

River People can often accommodate walk-in reservations up to one day in advance, but whenever possible please contact them in advance.

Find it!

The River People office is locate right across the main walking bridge in Tena. It’s on the same block as the Banco del Austro and Farmacias Economicas. Look for the big blue mural as you walk down the hill from the terminal.
